5 Ways to Sync With Your Cycle

There was a time many women lived in closer rhythm with the body, the moon, and the changing seasons.

Now, many of us are taught to move the same every day — to push when we need rest, produce when we need reflection, and ignore the wisdom of our own rhythms.

But the female body moves in cycles.

Your energy, emotions, creativity, sensitivity, and needs may shift throughout the month for a reason.

At Yarrow Moon, I call this rhythm The Fourfold:

  • Rooting — rest, release, inwardness
  • Becoming — new energy, clarity, beginnings
  • Carrying — fullness, expression, creation
  • Crossing — slowing down, wisdom, letting go

When you begin honoring each phase, life often feels softer, clearer, and more supportive.

Here are five simple ways to start syncing with your cycle.

1. Track Your Energy Instead of Only Tracking Dates

Many women only track when their period begins.

But deeper awareness comes when you notice:

  • When do I feel social?
  • When do I crave solitude?
  • When does my creativity rise?
  • When do I need extra rest?
  • When do emotions come forward?

Start journaling patterns.

Over time, you may notice your own Fourfold rhythm emerging.

2. Root During Menstruation

The menstrual phase is often a time for Rooting.

This may be a season of lower energy, deeper intuition, and the body asking for restoration.

Ways to support Rooting:

  • cancel non-essential pressure when possible
  • eat warm nourishing meals
  • journal
  • take baths
  • rest more
  • spend time in quiet

Instead of fighting this phase, let it hold you.

3. Begin During Becoming

After menstruation, many women notice fresh energy returning.

This is Becoming — spring energy.

You may feel more motivated, clearer, and ready to start again.

Use this time for:

  • planning
  • learning
  • starting projects
  • movement
  • organizing
  • planting new intentions

This is a beautiful time to say yes to what is calling you.

4. Express During Carrying

Around ovulation, many women feel radiant, outward, and connected.

This is Carrying — fullness and expansion.

Use this season for:

  • important conversations
  • creating content
  • hosting gatherings
  • collaboration
  • visibility
  • celebration

You are not “too much” here. You are simply in bloom.

5. Soften During Crossing

Before menstruation comes Crossing.

This phase is often misunderstood.

What can feel like irritability or emotional intensity may actually be wisdom asking for change.

Crossing invites:

  • boundaries
  • honesty
  • simplifying
  • releasing what no longer fits
  • deeper truth-telling
  • slowing down

This is not a flaw in you.

It is a threshold.


Final Thoughts

Cycle syncing does not need to be rigid.

You do not need to become perfect or control every phase.

This path is simply about listening.

Honoring what the body is already saying.

Returning to yourself again and again.

The Fourfold reminds us that women are not meant to be the same every day.

We are seasonal.

We are cyclical.

We are wise.
